The Volume of Central Asia Transit Containers at Qingdao Port Increased by 35% Year-on-Year

Trade between China and Central Asia has grown increasingly close, with significant achievements in the construction of major logistics corridors. This has attracted a growing volume of Central Asian transit cargo to utilize Qingdao Port as a transit channel. According to statistics, in the first half of this year, the container volume of Central Asian transit cargo at Qingdao Port exceeded 65,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), representing a year-on-year increase of 35% and demonstrating strong growth momentum.
Recently, 21 containers of transit auto parts from Shandong Landbridge International Transportation Co., Ltd. disembarked at Qingdao Port, were marshaled into a full Central Asia freight train, cleared customs supervision, exited via Alashankou Port, and will ultimately reach their destination in Kazakhstan.
"This sea-rail transportation model has significantly improved transport efficiency, shortening the overall transport cycle by an average of 2 days and reducing comprehensive logistics costs by approximately 15%, thereby enhancing the competitive edge of Chinese logistics enterprises in the international supply chain," said Wang Xin, Manager of the Customs Declaration Department at Shandong Landbridge International Transportation Co., Ltd.
In recent years, Qingdao Customs has focused on "cutting costs, improving efficiency, and smoothing logistics channels," optimizing and introducing multiple facilitation measures. By integrating customs supervision, port scheduling, and railway transportation systems, it has enabled seamless transfer of shipping containers directly onto trains and "arrive-and-go" transit for cross-border goods, achieving "zero-wait" customs clearance . Simultaneously, the customs authority supports sea-rail intermodal shuttle trains using railway containers for sea transport, allowing transit containers to skip the container-switching step and achieve direct delivery of full containers, reducing total logistics costs by 5%.

"Efficient customs clearance allows our goods to be ‘cleared immediately upon arrival,’ and orders from Central Asian clients have maintained high-speed growth this year. Customer recognition of us continues to increase," said Wang Xin. "Our company has greater confidence in the development of transit business!"
